Psalm 107

I've been intensively reading through the Psalms this year and it has been amazing! Because I have been slowly and purposefully reading (basically a psalm a day--sometimes they are broken up) I have been blessed by the wisdom and exaltation of God and His character! oh my it is intense, but excellent--i've seen God's just character, His need to punish the wicked; but also His gentle and faithful love that He has for His people.

that is exactly was drew me to Psalm 107---over and over again the psalmist says that the Israelites cried out to the Lord when they were in distress...and over and over again the Lord rescued them.

God is so good--He not only wants to rescue His people, from a life of sin or hurt or hate or addiction or lust or pride or lack of self-esteem or people pleasing or sorrowBUT HE ALSO WANTS TO RESTORE HIS PEOPLE! He wants to bring them His spirit of joy that is not dependent upon situation or life circumstance. He wants to enter the lives of His people and bring them life and life everlasting---AND that is found in His son, Jesus.

I wrote in my journal after reading this that: "God is faithful! He loves us! Repeatedly His people cried out and God answered them. God took the broken and restored THEM--He took the starving and fed them-- He took the distressed and rescued them!--He is so good!"

and the very last verse in the psalm reminded me of something very important.

it says: "Those who are wise will take all this to heart; they will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord."

this reminded me that we can KNOW all of these truths about the Lord BUT unless we REMEMBER them and take them to heart we are lost. If we forget who can rescue us, who has everlasting life and joy-- then it is useless.

God is good. Let us remember this truth and rest in it.

:) with love to all. be blessed.
